5 Acts Playing The Birdhouse You Can’t Miss At Dirtybird Campout 2021

The Birdhouse is home base at Dirtybird Campout. It’s the beating heart of the entire event where campers are reminded of how Dirtybird grew from a scrappy group of music lovers into being a force for music and events all over the world.

Not only will Ardalan, VNSSA, Steve Darko, Worthy and other family members grace the decks at the Birdhouse, but Counselor Claude invited exciting acts from across the house and techno spectrum to join us this year.

Check out some of the amazing artists who will be playing the Birdhouse as we make our return to the best summer camp on earth this October.

Boys Noize

Few artists have established the same level of versatility as Boys Noize. Getting his start in Hamburg, Germany back in 2004, he has traversed to the farthest reaches of dance music without ever losing his identity as a musician. His record label, Boys Noize Records, remains one of the most revered forces in acid techno to this day. He started the high octane breakbeat duo, Dog Blood, with Skrillex. Over quarantine he created an entirely modular project called STRICTLY BVNKER VOL. 1. What sort of set will he play at Campout? Who knows? But no matter what it will be production heavy madness like his last Boiler Room set.

Rodriguez Jr.

Rodriguez Jr. has become a household name in house and techno, and one major contributor to that is his extraordinary live set. Bringing along keyboards, synthesizers, drum machines, and a whole mess of hardware, every set is an individual journey through the hills and valleys of his own productions—pieced together, bit by bit, entirely in the moment. With all the machines at his fingertips, his ability for improvisation and experimentation skyrocket, a truth he understands and pushes to its fullest potential. See how he handles all these different moving parts with your own eyes via his live set for Beatport’s charity stream, ReConnect, last year.

DJ Heather

House music was born in Chicago, and DJ Heather was right there alongside Green Velvet, Derrick Carter, and more legends of four-on-the-floor when it came to be. Holding residencies at various house havens around The Windy City like The Artful Dodger and Red Dog, Heather’s eclectic style quickly garnered her a supreme reputation amongst the expanding dance community. Now decades after she first hit the decks, Heather maintains her love of selecting by playing numerous live streams throughout quarantine and recording new mixes like the one she put together for Chicago’s Smartbar below. 30 years of DJing and she hasn’t missed a beat.

Gene Farris

Gene is another legend of Chicago who came up right alongside DJ Heather, and we have been so grateful to welcome him more and more into the Dirtybird family over the last few years. He’s produced tracks on several Dirtybird compilations as well as his own EP, Space Girl. He always brings the heat to Carnival, his stream on Dirtybird Live, and he’s played for us so many times at numerous events including the inaugural Dirtybird CampINN and Dirtybird Campout 2017. Hosting one of the founder fathers of house music yet again is a true privilege, and we know there will be many more parties to come. Revisit Gene’s Dirtybird Campout Minecraft set for a taste of the damage he’ll do at The Birdhouse this year.

Damian Lazarus

Known as the techno pirate, Damian Lazarus doesn’t just explore the world as a swashbuckling touring DJ. He explores the world through the diverse sounds of his own discography as well as the Crosstown Rebels catalog—Lazarus’s imprint with over 250 releases to its name. Damian has signed artists from every corner of the planet including South Africa’s Black Coffee, the Spanish minimal purveyors, Audiofly, the Venezuelan born Fur Coat and countless others. This level of cultural intuition has allowed Damian to host some of the most notable events in the world through his party brands Get Lost and Day Zero. Tulum, Israel, Miami, Los Angeles. Damian has planted his flag in all of these Meccas and we’re thrilled he will add Modesto to that list as he joins us at Dirtybird Campout 2021 for a set at The Birdhouse and our Thursday night opening party!
